Italian Breads

Bring the taste of the Mediterranean into your home! During this hands-on class, we’ll make some classic Italian breads including focaccia and ciabatta, so come prepared to get your hands into lots of sticky dough. We’ll also make two different types of grissin. A light lunch is included and you’ll make plenty of bread to take with you, plus detailed notes and recipes so that you can easily replicate the breads at home.

"My girlfriend and I spent half a day learning to make Italian bread with Liz Wilson, aka Ma Baker, and it was quite simply the most fun cooking lesson I’ve ever had.

What separates this course from others is the fact that it takes place in Liz’s own kitchen, in her own home. Classes are limited to a maximum of four participants, and the end result is a relaxed and extremely welcoming environment. Liz herself is a wonderful teacher and a really nice person to be around, and while she crams a huge amount of knowledge into the time you spend with her (four separate recipes and endless know-how), it always feels like you’re just hanging out with a friend.

The mixing, kneading and baking itself is all very enjoyable, and the bread itself is nothing short of heavenly. At the end of the session you’ll take home everything you’ve made (bring a large bag), but more importantly you’ll be dead eager to take another crack at the recipes in your own kitchen. One week on from the lesson, I’ve already baked a focaccia from scratch, and I’ll be doing more baking in the next few days. If a half-shaved ape such as myself can do this, anyone can.
