Last Thursday, Michael and I travelled to the Hammersmith Town Hall for the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s Brilliant Business Awards. A busy atrium full of chatter and canapes and strange art. Seated for dinner next to the lovely Mercy Umeh, Mayor of LBHF and Carl Meale, Manager of West 12. Lots of banter and tasty bites to eat.
Awards time. The clever organisers had found appropriate tunes to accompany the winners walk to the stage, reflecting their business’s. That must have been a fun job ! I wondered whether I would hear the strains of Boney M.
Well I did. Not once but TWICE !
The first shock was receiving the Highly Commended Award for Best New Business. Me ? Walking onto stage. Shaking Hands. Photos. Engraved Glass trophy ! Thrilled.
Second…Winner for Best Small Business. What ? …She was the meanest cat……(people of a certain age will understand what I mean). So very surprised and amazed and and and…speechless ! What a way to celebrate the end of my first full-time year. It’s been a wonderful, surprising journey. I so love my job. Bread CAN make the world a better place…particularly my world. But I couldn’t have done it without the support of Michael, my wonderful family, my fabulous friends and the best bread eaters of Fulham !
BRILLIANT! Just experienced an amazing breadmaking course with Liz! The day was very well paced and organised. I was surprised…
Liz is a brilliant teacher and has completely mastered the balance between making her bread making classes accessible to novice…
We attended the artisan course and came away with a delicious haul of bread and an education on bread baking….
